What are our workshops about?

The “Obshtnost S Ideal” Foundation runs cultural, educational and social informal workshops for students in grades IV-XII, preserving and strengthening Bulgarian national identity and giving every child equal access to knowledge and skills.

For whom

Support for every child

Our target audience are young people of middle or low social status, from troubled family environments, disadvantaged communities or at risk of social exclusion - and all young people who need support in their personal growth. We aim to complement the school subjects that build national self-esteem, patriotic spirit and love of country - set as a desired outcome in the Preschool and School Education Act, section “School preparation - essence and content”.

Values

“Who are the heroes in our lives?”

The workshop is dedicated to Col. Boris Drangov - a Bulgarian national hero who fell at the bend of the Cherna River in the First World War. In three consecutive modules we compare children's ideas of heroes and anti-heroes and encourage critical thinking.

Every student develops self-reflection and awareness of their own identity through a creative canvas - their own mind map. The modules develop the ability to interpret and analyse information and inspire each child to see what they can do with their own life.

Sport

“A sound mind in a sound body”

The workshop builds the students' understanding of nutrition and sport. For every edition we engage a different athlete, who leads a full workout together with the students - with the equipment we have, we provide everything needed for the demonstration.

Personal growth

“Emotional intelligence”

We develop the skills to recognise, understand and manage one's own emotions, as well as effective communication and empathy. Through interactive games, role play and discussions, students learn to build healthy relationships, cope with stress and conflict, and make conscious decisions.

The programme is adapted to each age group and boosts self-confidence and emotional resilience - skills that serve both in school and in life beyond it.

Leadership

“Young Leaders”

We focus on the civic competences young people need at the end of their school years - how to communicate with institutions, be proactive, build and work in teams, and solve the problems of the community they live in. These are the key skills of a nationally responsible civil society.
